Middle and Upper School English Teacher - Leave Replacement

Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Middle and Upper School English Teacher - Leave Replacement from August through December 2024 (exact dates to be determined.) The ideal candidate will be an experienced, flexible, and collaborative teacher of secondary English.

We seek an individual who is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion and empowering all of our students by fostering extensive cultural competencies, life-long love of learning, and the commitment to improving their communities. We seek an enthusiastic and committed teacher with knowledge and practice in several literary areas, creative and analytical approaches to assessment, and student-centered, interdisciplinary pedagogy.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Teaching: 

  • Teaching four sections divided between seventh and ninth grade
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date online gradebook, effectively and supportively communicate with students and families in a timely manner, and provide written and oral feedback on student progress
  • Work with students on an individual basis, as need be
  • Work collaboratively with teaching teams to develop challenging and meaningful unit and lesson plans

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Assume role as an advisor for a group of students (approximately 7)
  • Advise a club or activity and supervise periodic study hall
  • Demonstrate energetic commitment to professional development
  • Attend and actively contribute to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to departmental, committee, divisional and grade-level meetings
  • Attend community events throughout the school year

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in English  or a related discipline required. Master’s degree preferred. 

Experience: 2 years of teaching experience in English or a related discipline

Requirement: All employees must be fully vaccinated and show proof of their full COVID 19 vaccination.

Salary Range: Compensation for the time period will be prorated based on an annual salary range of $71,563 - $98,915
