Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist
Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist. The Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist is an integral member of the student support team and will collaborate with various constituents within the community to develop interventions and outcomes-driven student support plans while also contributing toward the design of exceptional curriculum and implementation of best teaching practices. The ideal Learning Specialist will have a passion for teaching and learning, a proven track record of meeting the needs of a diverse set of learners, enthusiasm for working with adolescents and their families, and an understanding of the discretion that this type of work compels, familiarity with digital learning platforms, and flexibility.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Work with students to provide targeted academic support in large or small groups, as well as individually
- Create and oversee the execution of student learning and accommodation plans with input from teachers as well as outside service professionals, including summarizing neuropsychological evaluations
- Develop and teach differentiated curricula designed to reinforce student learning and explicit skill development across a variety of content areas
- Collaborate with teachers in designing curricula, classroom interventions, and assessments and regularly track student progress
- Work in conjunction with all members of the student support team, including deans, division heads, school counselors, and school nurses, in ensuring student support and helping to ease transitions
- Prepare and curate workshops, special presentations, and resources for colleagues and families throughout the year
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with students, faculty, and outside service providers
- Advise and mentor 8-12 middle school students throughout the year
- Co-advise an Affinity Space or co-teach a DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging) discussion group that meets once every seven-day cycle
- Attend community events throughout the school year and participate in extracurricular activities with the students, as a part of the country day school model.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Advise a club or activity and supervise periodic study hall.
- Demonstrate energetic commitment to professional development.
- Attend and contribute to meetings during and after the school day, including but not limited to departmental, committee, divisional and grade-level meetings.
- Accompany students on occasional curricular trips.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master’s degree in Education or related disciplines required
Experience: 2-4 years in a learning support capacity with at least 4 years of classroom teaching experience; proven track record as a team player; experience leading lessons and conducting instruction via Zoom, Google Meet, and other digital platforms.
Specific Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills; familiarity with technology including maintaining spreadsheets and the entire Google Suite; expertise in working with students with diagnosed learning differences
Salary Range: $78,941 - $90,161
