Computer and Information Science Leave Replacement Teacher

Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Computer and Information Science Leave Replacement Teacher from February 9, 2026 to May 12, 2026. This role will teach two Upper School Java classes. The Upper School CIS Leave Replacement Teacher is expected to engage students in high-level computer science instruction and learning. The teacher will guide students in their work with content-specific Java programming.  This is an immediate hire.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Teaching: 

  • Teach two sections of Upper School Java courses. 
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date online gradebook, effectively and supportively communicate with students and families in a timely manner, and provide written and oral feedback on student progress
  • Maintain an up-to-date Google Classroom site, including transparent assessment guidelines and rubrics
  • Provide in-class academic support to students in a flipped Java course by assisting with coding practice, debugging, and concept clarification. 
  • Support the implementation of lesson plans and daily activities designed by the lead teacher, without introducing new content or modifying curriculum.
  • Be available to students for instructional support during office hours.
  • Adhere to all school policies regarding professional conduct, student safety, confidentiality, communication, and assessment. 

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrate energetic commitment to professional development
  • Attend and actively contribute to all-school, department, division, and team meetings

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Bachelors and/or Masters in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)

Experience:  Four years advanced programming experience

Specific Skills:  Java Programming Proficiency: Strong command of core Java concepts  (syntax, control structures, methods, classes, objects, arrays, debugging common errors).

Salary:  $5,696 - $7,832
