Lower School Classroom Assistant (Part Time)
Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Lower School Classroom Assistant (Part Time). The Classroom Assistant plays a vital role in Poly Prep’s Lower School as they facilitate positive student behavior and engagement while supervising and supporting groups of students during their onsite learning. The Classroom Assistant must exude warmth, patience, and compassion in their support of students.
DATES/HOURS OF POSITION
September 3, 2024 through June 13, 2025
3.5 hours per day. Monday through Friday when class is In session (schedule to be determined)
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Greet students and create a welcoming learning environment
- Assist with classroom supervision throughout the morning including arrival, lunch, recess, special subjects, class time, transitions, field trips, and trips to the park
- Uphold safety protocols, including social distancing, mask wearing, and handwashing at all times
- Support students at independent centers and choice time
- Attend to students’ social and emotional needs as they arise
- Communicate professionally with all members of the community
- Observe students for health concerns and refer students in need to the health team
- Collaborate with other faculty and staff as needed
- Actively participate in a positive school culture through shared duties and other tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma and at least 2 years of college enrollment required.
Experience: Demonstrated interest and experience in working with children.
Hourly Wage: $20.00 per hour
