Athletic Trainer - Leave Replacement

Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Athletic Trainer-Leave Replacement for the period of August 14, 2025 through January 15, 2026.  The trainer will provide first aid or emergency care for student athletes, develop and carry out rehabilitation programs for injured athletes, and implement comprehensive programs to prevent injury and illness among athletes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Injury Prevention:
    • Design and implement injury prevention programs for athletes across different sports.
    • Educate coaches and athletes on proper techniques to minimize injury risk. 
    • Conduct pre-season physical examinations and fitness assessments. 
    • Fit and maintain protective equipment. 
  • Injury Evaluation and Treatment:
    • Assess injuries on the field and provide immediate first aid. 
    • Conduct thorough evaluations to diagnose injuries. 
    • Develop individualized treatment plans including modalities like ice, heat, manual therapy, and therapeutic exercises. 
    • Manage medication administration as per physician orders. 
  • Rehabilitation and Reconditioning:
    • Contribute to the creation of comprehensive rehabilitation programs to gradually return athletes to full participation. 
    • Monitor athlete progress and adjust rehabilitation plans as needed. 
    • Collaborate with strength and conditioning coaches to integrate rehabilitation exercises into training programs.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Help manage the athletic training room, including inventory of supplies and equipment. 
    • Maintain detailed athlete injury records and documentation. 
    • Coordinate medical coverage for athletic events. 
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Regularly communicate with coaches regarding athlete injuries and return-to-play status.
    • Collaborate with team physicians on complex medical cases and referrals. 
    • Maintain open communication with athletes regarding their health and injury concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree
Experience:

  • Expertise in athletic training with at least 3 years of experience at the high school or college level.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with NYSAIS mission and philosophies.
  • Successful student retention experience.

Specific Skills:  Microsoft Office, Windows, macOS, Google Platforms

Certifications/Licenses:  SafeSport, CPR, First Aid/AED

Salary Range:  $31,125 - $40,865
